Latin Translation: Everything Happens for a Reason

by Amanda
(Florida)

Dear Latin Teacher,
I wanted to make sure that the phrase,
everything happens for a reason
when translated to Latin is,
omnia causa fiunt

Please help me.

Dear Amanda,

Yes, your Latin phrase means everything happens for a reason. To break it down, omnia is the subject, a neuter plural, meaning all things. causa is an ablative singular, meaning with reason or cause. Fiunt is a plural verb meaning happens or is made or becomes.

Hope this helps, and thanks for asking a Latin teacher.

Sincerely,

John
