I came across your site trying to find a latin teacher/expert. I took some latin in high school but can't remember a lot of it and am looking for a translation of two short phrases. So far all the online translators spit out something different, so I was wondering if you could help me get an accurate translations. -"Burn the boats" and -"I am not led; I lead" which I have seen a couple of places as "Non Ducor Duco" I want to make sure they are accurate as they will be tattoos. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Teri
Hi Teri,
Burn the ships (and therefore end all hope of return) would be: Incendite Naves! Your other phrase, Non ducor duco, is correct Latin for I am not led, I lead.
Hope this helps and thanks for asking a Latin teacher.
Sincerely,
John
