Derivatives: Bellum

by Hannah
(USA)

Dear Latin Teacher,

I need 5 derivatives for the Latin word bellum. I have searched all over and can't find 5 of them.

Dear Hannah,

bellicose: argumentative, ready to fight.

belligerent: warlike, ready for war; punchy, rude, difficult to get along with, petulant.

antebellum: built before the civil war.

bellipotent: powerful in war, mighty.

casus belli: an event that brings about a declaration of war.

And is it cheating to give several forms of one true derivative?

bellicosity
belligerence

Hope this helps, and thanks for asking a Latin teacher.

Sincerely,

John
