Build Your Own Website:
These Teacher Websites are
Better than Free

If you plan to build your own website, of course you want to:

  • Remove technological barriers to success
  • Reach as many visitors as possible
  • Have total freedom of content with no irritating advertisements

And you also want it to be cost effective, right?

Better than free:

I am a full time high school Latin teacher in Westchester, New York. I've been teaching Latin since 1999.

In the summer of 2007 I started building my educational website, www.vocabulary-lesson-plans.com.

By the summer of 2008, I had built more than 50 pages full of Latin roots and English derivatives, and the site was getting more than 100 visitors per day.

I placed Google Adsense here and there on my pages, without altering my content, and now the site pays for itself every month.

I even make a few extra dollars from the Google ads, so my site is better than free.

As a update for January, 2010, my site has over 400 unique visitors per day and earns more than $150 per month.

Great tools for the computer-illiterate:

My site was successful enough that I decided to add a weekly newsletter for my visitors to keep up with new content.

The tools available were powerful and easy to use. As of January 2010, my newsletter, Latin Word of the Week, has 337 subscribers with an average of 4 new subscribers every week.

Believe me, I do not have the technical know-how to build an e-zine style newsletter on my own. My expertise is the Latin language, not computers and web-design.

But I did build an e-zine. One that is popular and growing - subscribe just to the right.

And I did it with SBI! tools.

Blogging:

My entire website has become its own blog with all new content published through an RSS feed - subscribe just to the left.

Readers can receive all new site content in this syndacated feed, through Yahoo!, MSN, or Google Reader.

Again, I had no idea how do build such a thing. But I learned first-hand that SBI! makes it easy, and that you can do it, too!

Wordtracker Supply and Demand:

SBI! teaches you how to build your own website from the ground up. A big part of the early stages is to choose keywords around which to build your keyword-focused content pages.

Wordtracker comes free with SBI!

You don't have to pay for a separate subscription, or worse, fumble through finding your own keywords at the Google keywords tool.
