Two-thirds of a century

by Bob
(Louisville, Kentucky)

Dear Latin Teacher: Centennial, bicentennial, tricentennial, etc. are familiar Latin-based words that name a period of time. I've also seen the prefix "sesqui- " used to modify these nouns even more precisely to half-century intervals. Is there a similar Latin prefix that would indicate two-thirds of a century? Thank you for offering your services.

Dear Bob,

While Latin does have a word for two-thirds, bes, I don't find any use of it to mean 2/3 of a century. If anyone out there knows, please contribute to this thread.

If I had to make it up: bes saeculi = two-thirds of a century.

Sorry I'm no help,

Sincerely,

John
