Latin Translation: I submit to you

by Sara
(Portland, OR)

Hi - can you please help me with "I submit to you," both grammatically and its pronunciation?

My guess is "Te cedo" but I'm not sure. Thanks so much!

Dear Sara,

Cedo is intransitive and takes an object in the dative case. So: tibi cedo, I submit/yield to you.

Hope this helps, and thanks for asking a Latin teacher.

Sincerely,

John

I really appreciate your help (I'm the Sarah in Portland with the beekeeping sweetheart). I finally realized the rest of your site holds lesson plans - what a treasure you are! Your work is much appreciated. I'll be starting on Perseus tomorrow!
