Latin root: Ask

by Anonymous

Dear Latin Teacher,

A word from the Greek or Latin root gate that means to ask? Thanks, Anonymous

Dear Anonymous,

The only Latin root I can think of that contains the -ga- you're looking for is rogare.

It means to ask or to ask for, and its English derivatives include interrogate, prerogative, interrogative, and arrogant.

Hope this helps, and thanks for asking a Latin teacher.
