Dear Latin Teacher,
I recently transformed my front yard into a first century Roman garden. Are there any good Latin quotations about gardens or gardening that I can display in my new garden?
Hi Katie,
Here's a famous one from Cicero:
si hortum in bibliotheca habes, deerit nihil. (Epistulae ad familiares 9.4)
Often translated as: If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.
The literal translation: If you have a garden in your library, nothing will be lacking.
Hope this helps, and thanks for asking a Latin teacher.
Sincerely,
John
